Home.....Through A Porthole. There is no mistaking the expressions on the faces of these GI's as they gaze through the porthole of a Coast Guard-manned invasion transport at the solid ground of an East Coast port. The soldiers are among the many thousands being transported by Coast Guard-manned vessels from the ETO back to the States. For many of the soldiers, who live on the west coast, even the sight of U.S. soil thousands of miles from their residences means home. For T/SGT Harold Phelps, left, of Manlius, N.Y., and T/SGT William H. Goodfellow of Fayetteville, N.Y. There just ain't no two ways about it.
