GREAT LAKES, Il. (January 18, 2024) Sailors stationed aboard Naval Station Great Lakes and its tenant commands are presented lone Sailor statues from the Navy League at a Sailor of the year ceremony at the National Museum of the American Sailor, Jan. 18, 2024. Since its founding in 1902, the Navy League has provided a voice for stronger sea services. The Navy League has grown to become the foremost citizens organization serving, supporting and standing with all U.S. sea services.

BOSTON (June 23, 2022) Navy Counselor 1st Class Kyle Marchese (Left) assigned to USS Constitution, received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal from Cmdr. Billie J. Farrell (Right). USS Constitution, is the worlds oldest commissioned warship afloat, and played a crucial role in the Barbary Wars and the War of 1812, actively defending sea lanes from 1797 to 1855. During normal operations, the active-duty Sailors stationed aboard USS Constitution provide free tours and offer public visitation to more than 600,000 people a year as they support the ships mission of promoting the Navys history and maritime heritage and raising awareness of the importance of a sustained naval presence. USS Constitution was undefeated in battle and destroyed or captured 33 opponents. The ship earned the nickname of Old Ironsides during the war of 1812 when British cannonballs were seen bouncing off the ships wooden hull.

GREAT LAKES, Il. (July 15, 2022) Sherri Emerson receives an award from Capt. Jason J. Williamson, Naval Station Great Lakes' commanding officer, during a command quarters. Opened in 1911, Naval Station Great Lakes (NSGL) is the Navys largest training installation and the home of the Navys only Boot Camp. Located on over 1600 acres overlooking Lake Michigan, the installation includes 1,153 buildings with 39 on the National Register of Historic Places. NSGL supports over 50 tenant commands and elements as well as over 20,000 Sailors, Marines, Soldiers, and DoD civilians who live and work on the installation.

BOSTON (Oct. 6, 2022) U.S. Navy Airman John Wayne, was awarded the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal aboard USS Constitution, October 6. USS Constitution was undefeated in battle and destroyed or captured 33 opponents. The ship earned the nickname of Old Ironsides during the war of 1812 when British cannonballs were seen bouncing off the ships wooden hull.

GREAT LAKES (Sep. 29, 2022) Firefighter-EMT David Cullen, Great Lakes Fire & Emergency Services, received a CNIC Fire & Emergency Services Life Saving Award certificate from Capt. Jason J. Williamson, Naval Station Great Lakes commanding officer (left), and Capt. Kertreck V. Brooks, Recruit Training Command commanding officer, related to life saving actions on June 7, 2022. Opened in 1911, NSGL is the Navys largest training installation and the home of the Navys only Boot Camp. Located on over 1600 acres overlooking Lake Michigan, the installation includes 1,153 buildings with 39 on the National Register of Historic Places. NSGL supports over 50 tenant commands and elements as well as over 20,000 Sailors, Marines, Soldiers, and DoD civilians who live and work on the installation.

Copeland, the Battalion Commander, from Roswell, N.M., assigned to 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Marine Air-Ground Task Force 7, exchanges gifts with a Republic of Korea Marine during Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2022. Twenty-six nations, 38 ships, three submarines, more than 170 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC 2022 from June 29 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The worlds largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC 2022 provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the worlds oceans. RIMPAC 2022 is the 28th exercise in the series that began in 1971.
