The Medal of Nakhimov was a Soviet military award created on March 3, 1944 by decision of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, to reward distinction in the defence of the socialist homeland and to actively recognise successful combat missions on ships, in units of the Navy or of Border Guards. It was named in honour of Russian admiral Pavel Nakhimov, one of the most famous admirals in Russian naval history.

Chips, the dog hero of the 3rd Infantry Division, was posthumously awarded the Peoples Dispensary for Sick Animals Dickin Medal in January 2018. The PDSA Dickin Medal is a British decoration that recognizes animals for their acts of bravery and devotion to duty while serving in the Armed Forces. The bronze medallion includes the inscription, For Gallantry and We also serve and there is the highest award any animal can receive for service in military conflict. After the Dickin Medal was presented, it was housed at The National World War II Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana, before being brought to the 3rd Infantry Division Museum, Fort Stewart, Georgia, on April 13, 2022. The medal is now a part of the museums permanent collection, allowing 3rd ID Soldiers to learn more about the divisions involvement in the war.

Marine Women's Department (Marva). The Heart Shield is derived from the city of London, the birthplace of the Marva in 1944. The blue naval anchor is the uniform sign that the Marvas wore until 1977 and the emblem spell Semper Adjutans (always supportive) refers to the role of this department in the Royal Navy. In the context of the integration of the woman in the armed forces, the individual military women departments were lifted and the Marva held to exist on 1 January 1982.
