SILVERDALE, Wash. (Nov. 21, 2022) -Trident Refit Facility, Bangor (TRFB) team member Gerald McKlosky, Code 613 Quality Assurance Inspector (QAI) division head, discusses the operations of his division with TRFB leadership during a gemba. Code 613 Quality Assurance Inspectors (QAI) personnel are responsible for conducting in-process critical inspections and testing of components within the Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE) boundary, as well as structural, mechanical and critical coating inspections. Each week, TRFB leadership personnel visits a different production area of the facility for a first-hand look, which is referred to as a gemba.

GREAT LAKES, Il. (Nov. 4, 2022) Naval Station Great Lakes, the Navy Exchange (NEX), the Naval Order of the United States and crew members of the former USS Barry (DD-993) came together to celebrate the installation of the Barry stern nameplate on the wall of the NEX at Burkey Mall. Opened in 1911, NSGL is the Navys largest training installation and the home of the Navys only Boot Camp. Located on over 1600 acres overlooking Lake Michigan, the installation includes 1,153 buildings with 39 on the National Register of Historic Places. NSGL supports over 50 tenant commands and elements as well as over 20,000 Sailors, Marines, Soldiers, and DoD civilians who live and work on the installation.

Norfolk (September 19, 2022) Chief Petty Officer selectees from various commands in the Hampton Roads, Virginia region participate in history and heritage training aboard the decommissioned Iowa-Class Battleship USS Wisconsin (BB-64) facilitated by Command Master Chief James Parlier, USN (Ret.). Specifically, CMC Parlier shared some of his experiences while serving as the CMC aboard USS Cole (DDG-67), which was the target of a suicide bomb in October 2000 while at anchor in Aden, Yemen. The attack claimed the lives of 17 Sailors, and wounded 59 others. The presentation was part of the museums 21st Annual Chief Petty Officer Heritage Days event. The three-day event allows CPO selectees to receive history and heritage training at the museum and aboard the Battleship Wisconsin, and is hosted by the museum and area commands. The event is the largest and longest running of its kind in Virginia.
