Glasgow following an entertainment arranged for the visiting British Sailors. In the course of the Summer Cruise programme of the Home Fleet H.M.S. Glasgow (Captain P. Dawnay, M.V.O., D.S.C., R.N.) has just paid a visit to Poland. She paid a courtesy call at the naval port of Gdynia on 1st July, remaining until 4th July. H.M.S Glasgow has now returned to Rosyth, and was the first British warship to pay a visit to a Polish port since the war. The Benin Expedition of 1897 was a punitive expedition by a British force of 1,200 under Admiral Sir Harry Rawson in response to a massacre of a previous British-led invasion force. His troops captured, burned, and looted the city of Benin, bringing to an end the West African Kingdom of Benin. During the conquering and burning of the city, much of the country's art, including the Benin Bronzes, was either destroyed, looted or dispersed.
