Tents and barracks within a stockade at Elmira Prison, Camp Rathburn, in southern New York State. The Union POW camp was built to hold 12,000 Confederate inmates. When US Civil War prisoner exchanges stopped between 1863 to early 1865, all POWs were interned, stressing facilities for both Union and Confederacy. In spite of the Union's adequate resources to feed and shelter the POWs, 2,963 prisoners died at Elmira from various causes  (BSLOC_2019_2_4)

Music in the French camp - Thessaloniki, Greece. This fascinating card has a strong historical interest - In 1915, during World War I, a large Allied expeditionary force landed at Thessaloniki as the base for operations against pro-German Bulgaria.
