Sailors assigned to U.S. Navy Region Hawaii conduct an internment ceremony for U.S. Navy Machinist's Mate 2nd Class Everett Raymond Stewart, of California, at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii, June 16, 2022. Stewart was assigned to the USS Oklahoma, which sustained fire from Japanese aircraft and multiple torpedo hits causing the ship to capsize and resulted in the deaths of more than 400 crew members on Dec. 7, 1941, at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor. Stewart was recently identified through DNA analysis by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) forensic laboratory and laid to rest with full military honors.

The HPSS portion of JA24 includes a command post exercise, defensive cyber operations training, and academic courses, including the first Women, Peace and Security and Rule of Law courses, as well as a veterinary exchange. JA24 is U.S. Africa Command's largest exercise in East Africa, running from February 26 - March 7. Led by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), and hosted in Kenya, this year's exercise will incorporate personnel and units from 23 nations. This multinational exercise builds readiness for the U.S. joint force, prepares regional partners for UN and AU mandated missions, and increases multinational interoperability in support of humanitarian assistance, disaster response and crisis response.

Norfolk, Va. (September 1, 2022) LCDR Carnell Aurelio, assigned to Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, is promoted to Commander during a ceremony aboard the decommissioned Iowa-Class Battleship USS Wisconsin (BB 64). The ceremony occurred in front of the Battleships iconic turret No. 1 and was attended by members of his family and command. The ceremony was hosted and coordinated by the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, one of ten U.S. Navy museums within the Naval History and Heritage Command. The museum offers military ceremonies for area commands without cost as part of their military outreach offerings.
