Youthful rocket builder at Lieutenant General H.handeer. A 10-year-old resident of Zaandam, Frits Hesse, wrote a letter to the chef of the Air Force Staff, Lieutenant General H. Schaper, in which he announced that he had built a rocket with his father, who he liked to leave the general See if he was allowed to view one of his aircraft in return. The CLS has entered this exchange base. He left Frits Hesse (with his father) to come to the rocket, a beautifully carried out model of 85 cm. Waesche, Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, presents the Distinguished Service Medal to Rear Admiral Edward H. "Iceberg" Smith for "exceptionally meritorious service .. as commander of the Greenland Patrol and later as commander of a task force in the Atlantic Fleet from December, 1941, to November, 1944."
