IKE is conducting a fast cruise, which is a simulated underway period consisting of drills and training evolutions that test the equipment and systems on the ship to prepare the crew to operate at sea.

The 816th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron delivers aid and supplies to Skardu Airfield, Pakistan as well as transports internally displaced persons back to Chaklala Air Force Base, Pakistan aboard their C-17 Globemaster III aircraft on Sept. 24, 2010.The 816th EAS primary focus is flying missions to Northern Pakistan in support of flood relief efforts.

Twenty-six nations, 38 ships, four submarines, more than 170 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 29 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The worlds largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the worlds oceans. RIMPAC 2022 is the 28th exercise in the series that began in 1971.

Georgia Air National Guardsmen from the 165th Security Forces Squadron, Georgia National Guard, participate in an after action brieifng after an air base ground defense field training exercise July 15, 2022 at the 165th Airlift Wing in Savannah, Georgia. The defenders mission during the field training was to deploy into a hostile environment where they must foot patrol into an area and then seize, clear and protect the area and its assets from opposing forces. Over the duration of the 4-day exercise, teams were tasked with missions outside the wire to clear the area of hostile forces that had the intent of disrupting the Air Force mission to which they were successful.

The exercise, simulating a sniper attack, was staged to validate capabilities of KSCs fire, medical helicopter transport and security personnel to respond to such an event.

220104-N-YS140-018Fort Pickett, Va. (Jan. 04, 2022) Afghan evacuees await thier turn to board a bus and depart for the airport. Over 150 evacuees departed today to resettle, with approximately 3,000 remaining. Over half of the evacuees that came to Fort Pickett have been resettled. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible. This initiative provides Afghan personnel essential support at secure locations outside Afghanistan.

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. - A Columbia Crew Memorial Service is held at the Shuttle Landing Facility for KSC employees and invited guests. The Columbia and her crew of seven were lost on Feb. 1, 2003, over East Texas as they returned to Earth after a 16-day research mission. Taking part in the service were NASA Administrator Sean OKeefe, former KSC Director Robert Crippen, astronaut Jim Halsell, several employees, area clergymen, and members of Patrick Air Force Base. The service concluded with a “Missing Man Formation Fly Over” by NASA T-38 jet aircraft.
