More than 6,000 visitors showed up to an open house hosted by the Vermont Air and Army National Guard, where military aviation, equipment, vehicles, munitions and flight simulators were on display, along with a career fair, musical performances and police dog demonstrations, at the Vermont Air National Guard Base, South Burlington, Vermont, Sept. 11, 2022. The event was planned to coincide with the Vermont National Guard's observance of the 21st anniversary of the attacks of 9/11 which saw Vermont Air National Guard F-16s flying patrols over NYC in the immediate aftermath of the attack.

Meadows Elementary School students interact with a remote-controlled, heavy-duty robot at the annual career day event, May 20. The robot is used to disarm improvised explosive devices and uses radio signals to conduct recon.Meadows Elementary Schools location within the Fort Hood community, and educating children of military families, allowed this event to not only display the various civilian careers, but also the diverse range of Army career fields. Meadows was allowed to have speakers for its annual career day in the school for the first time since 2020, when the event was cancelled due to Covid-19.

New Orleans, La. -- Army Staff Sgt. Stacy A. Groves, helps guide a special vehicle belonging to the 62nd Civil Support Team (Weapons of Mass Destruction) as it sweeps a Mardi Gras parade route, Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, for evidence of unknown or suspicious sources of radiation. The 62nd is designed to augment local and regional terrorism response capabilities in events known or suspected to involve weapons of mass destruction.

Military retirees and their family members participating in the 2022 Retiree Appreciation Day on Sept. 9, 2022, at Fort McCoy, Wis., visit a sidewalk sale at the Fort McCoy Commissary. Hundreds of people attended the event that was coordinated by the Fort McCoy Soldier for Life/Retirement Services Office with the Fort McCoy Directorate of Human Resources in building 2472 also on post. The sidewalk sale was part of the days festivities. It was the first Retiree Appreciation Day at the installation since 2019.

This ceremony marked the end of the Club Car Championships Military Appreciation Day. Bowman is a retired sergeant first class and a former member of the U.S. Armys elite parachute team, the Golden Knights.
