85th Engineering Installation Squadron honors police week, gold star AirmanMembers of the 85th Engineering Installation Squadron participated in Keesler Air force Base Police Week ruck march honoring fallen security forces members and OSI agents.The event was especially meaningful for members of the 85th as one of the units current members, Airman 1st Class Joshua Balmer, is a gold star child. Balmers father, Special Agent Ryan Balmer, was killed in Iraq in 2007 from an IED blast. Although Balmer was only eight years old at the time, he knew from that moment he wanted to follow in his fathers footsteps and become an Airman. Members of the 85th showed support to Airman 1st Class Balmer and his father by participating in a 4.5 mile ruck to honor the sacrifices Special Agent Balmer and all of our fallen servicemen and women have made over the years.

Soldiers were given specific ingredients and given one hour to cook and present their food to the judges. The Soldiers used a Military Kitchen Trailer (MKT) to prepare and cook food. This competition tested the proficiency each team has with their MKT, so when they are mobilized they are ready and prepared to use it. A MKT is capable of feeding up to 350 Soldiers.

Soldiers with the 1069th Military Police Company, 165th Military Police Battalion, 55th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade participated in a riot control drill at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa. on July 18. The drill was one of many training events the 1069th MPs participated in during annual training in support of Defense Support of Civil Authorities. One of the 1069ths past DSCA missions was maintaining traffic control points in key areas of Philadelphia.

Members of the Wisconsin Army National Guards Troop C, 1st Squadron, 105th Cavalry Regiment took part in Tamiok Strike 2023 in Papua New Guinea July 31-Aug. 11. The 801st RED HORSE Training Squadron was activated at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, Nov. 21, 2022, to stabilize, standardize and cultivate contingency training for combat support teams across the Air Force, allowing instructors to focus on training members. The location of the 801st OL-A is unique to Nellis due to the amount of space available to conduct explosive demolition operations and quarry operations.
