To ensure the safety of the Haitian people, Joint Task Force-Haiti secured an area in which to airdrop the supplies. Once on the ground, supplies were distributed by JTF-Haiti, USAID and other relief personnel.

A UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter and crew members transported search and rescue volunteers up Mapleton Canyon where they were dropped off to begin their search efforts and later returned back to the incident command center. During the training scenario as in real life, the ground crew had 25 minutes or so to prepare the patient for transport. This is where one of those lessons learned came into play. Today a big issue we had was the spine board. Realizing that it doesnt fit is really good for us to know, so the next time something real happens we are prepared and have that patient on the bird a lot faster than we did today, explained Senior Medic Staff Sgt.
