Guerra de la Independencia Española (1808-1814). Sorpresa de Arlabán (1811). Enfrentamiento que tuvo lugar el 25 de mayo de 1811 en las montañas cercanas al Puerto de Arlabán, que separa las provincias de Alava y Guipúzcoa. A primeras horas de la mañana, guerrilleros españoles liderados por Francisco Espoz y Mina, capturaron parte de un convoy de prisioneros que era escoltado por un fuerte contingente militar al mando del coronel Laffitte. Tras siete horas de combate, los franceses se rindieron, capturando los españoles armas y suministros, liberando a más de mil prisioneros españoles, portugueses y británicos.
