Tiger cruises are an opportunity for Sailors to give friends and family a first-hand experience of life underway aboard a sea-going vessel and experience the ship's day-to-day operations. The base is home to all east coast Ohio-class submarines.

Decatur, a part of Nimitz Carrier Strike Group, returned following a seven-month deployment to U.S. 3rd and 7th Fleet areas of operations. Missouri performed a full spectrum of operations, including anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, during the extended seven-month, Indo-Pacific deployment.

(Jan. 14, 2024)- A Sailor assigned to the Bear Aces of Airborne Command and Control Squadron (VAW) 124, reunites with his family after returning to Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia, Jan. 14, following a more than eight-month deployment with the Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group. While deployed, the squadron accomplished 1,640 flight hours over 610 sorties.

Colonel Sonkiss, commander, 15 Airlift Squadron and 12 others from Joint Base Charleston participated in two commemoration ceremonies for the crew of B-17 #43-39388 in Courmayeur, Italy and Bourg Saint Maurice on September 3rd and 4th. The B-17 crew was from the 15th Troop Carrier Squadron which is now the 15th AS. Dignitaries and family members of the crew were in attendance. The entire eight man crew was lost after their aircraft went down on Aiguille des Glaciers, one of the rugged peaks in the French Alps. It is near Mont Blanc, the highest point in Europe and close to the French-Italian border. (May 26, 2022) Chief Culinary Specialist (Submarines) Dennis Briggs reunites with his wife Dana Briggs after the Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine USS Maryland (SSBN 738) (Blue) returned to its homeport at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia, following a routine strategic deterrent patrol. Strategic deterrence is a top priority of the Department of Defense. The ship is one of six ballistic-missile submarines stationed at the base and is capable of carrying up to 20 submarine-launched ballistic-missiles with multiple warheads.
