NORFOLK, Va. (Jan. 14, 2024)- Families of Sailors assigned to the Rawhides of Fleet Logistics Support Squadron (VRC) 40, wait for thier Sailors upon their return to Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia, Jan. 14, following a more than eight-month deployment with the Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group. While deployed, the squadron accomplished 1,640 flight hours over 610 sorties.

The United States Womens National Volleyball Team visited the 90th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron at Łask Air Base, Poland to tour the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor and learn about the 90th EFS mission in Poland. The 90th EFS forward deployed in support of NATOs Air Shielding mission to enhance the defense posture on the eastern flank. The USAVWNT competed in the World Championship tournament in a nearby city to the base. Airmen from the 90th EFS and the USAVWNT had the opportunity to support each other during their time away from home.

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. - A Columbia Crew Memorial Service is held at the Shuttle Landing Facility for KSC employees and invited guests. The Columbia and her crew of seven were lost on Feb. 1, 2003, over East Texas as they returned to Earth after a 16-day research mission. Taking part in the service were NASA Administrator Sean OKeefe, former KSC Director Robert Crippen, astronaut Jim Halsell, several employees, area clergymen, and members of Patrick Air Force Base. The service concluded with a “Missing Man Formation Fly Over” by NASA T-38 jet aircraft.

SAN DIEGO (Sept. 30, 2022) - Friends and family welcome home Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) Sailors as the ship returns to San Diego upon completion of Pacific Partnership 2022. Having just completed its 17th year, Pacific Partnership is the largest annual multi-national humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific. Pacific Partnership 2022 host nations included Vietnam, Palau, the Philippines and Solomon Islands. U.S. Service Members carried out the mission alongside partner nation representatives from Australia, Chile, Japan, the Republic of Korea and the United Kingdom.

The United States Marine Corps held its annual Marine Corps Marathon, Arlington, Virginia, October 30, 2022. Runners and Disabled Veteran riders from far and wide, came together to participate and support the Marine Corps and their country as well as the experience of running on an iconic course with Marines. Organized by the men and women of the Unites States Marine Corps, the 47th MCM is the first live event since 2019. The 26.2 mile race drew roughly 20,000 participants, more than 2,400 Marines and Sailors, and 1,500 civilian volunteers. Known as "The People's Marathon," there is no prize money for top finishers; all runners were celebrated for their honor, courage, and commitment.
