USS Cumberland, a sloop-of-war in the Union Navy, sank of March 8, 1862 during a battle with the Confederate ironclad ram CSS Virginia. The museum is the repository for artifacts recovered from the Cumberland.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command Directorate of Human Capital hosted nearly 70 members of the Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP) at the commands headquarters on Peterson Space Force Base Jan. 12, 2023. The ELDP is a 10-month program offering a unique vertical leadership development opportunity where government employees at the GS-12 to GS-14 or equivalent level are physically and intellectually challenged to go beyond their current paradigm of what it means to lead. Participants travel to various military locations and engage with senior leaders while participating in military readiness activities that offer front-line perspectives of the warfighter.

Norfolk (September 19, 2022) Chief Petty Officer selectees from various commands in the Hampton Roads, Virginia region participate in history and heritage facilitated by Museum Educator Zach Smyers of the Hampton Roads Naval Museum. The presentation centered around the U.S. Navys involvement in the Vietnam War, and occurred in the museums exhibit “The Ten Thousand-Day War at Sea: The U.S. Navy in Vietnam, 1950-1975.” The presentation was part of the museums 21st Annual Chief Petty Officer Heritage Days event. The three-day event allows CPO selectees to receive history and heritage training at the museum and aboard the Battleship Wisconsin, and is hosted by the museum and area commands. The event is the largest and longest running of its kind in Virginia.

YOKOSUKA, Japan (Aug. 19, 2022) - College graduates attend a graduation ceremony presented by Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka's (CFAY) Fleet & Family Suport Center (FFSC), for all graduates who were previously unable to participate in a live graduation ceremony from the classes of 2020 through 2022. For more than 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th fleet's forward deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.

The Pennsylvania National Guard held its annual Guard Day at the Capitol Sept. 20 in Harrisburg, Pa. to showcase its mission and capabilities to state legislators, staff and visitors through numerous displays. The Pennsylvania House and Senate passed resolutions proclaiming September 20, 2022 to be Pennsylvania National Guard and Veterans Day in the commonwealth. Guard members representing a variety of units and functions of the Pennsylvania National Guard spent the morning setting up colorful visual displays in the rotunda. Knowledgeable Soldiers and Airmen explained to curious legislators, staff and visitors their unique roles in the 18,000-member force, the second largest Guard in the nation.
