CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (Apr. 24, 2022) - Medical personnel, assigned to Fleet Surgical Team 3, simulate transporting an injured patient from a ship to a ROLE 3 medical Facility after being treated by medical staff. This was part of Expeditionary Medical Facility (EMF) Juliets operational readiness evaluation (ORE). The ORE was conducted at Naval Expeditionary Medical Training Institute and evaluates patient throughput capability, assesses coordination across functional areas, and teamwork. This training supports the Surgeon Generals Tiered Readiness Program and showcases Navy Medicines ability to generate and maintain ready medical forces.

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. -- During the second stage of a simulated emergency, known as Mode 4, a KSC rescue team helps a worker portraying an "injured" astronaut at a triage area set up at Helipad 8, located near the fire station between Launch Pads 39A and 39B. The emergency exercise began on Launch Pad 39A. The participants were helped off the pad and taken to the triage site. The "injured" worker may be airlifted to participating area hospitals. The KSC rescue teams are practicing emergency procedures in the unlikely scenario of a mishap on the pad during a launch sequence. The exercises are standard training procedures to assess and prepare emergency personnel, procedures and hardware.

Preparing for the worse case scenario, the 51st Medical Group personnel answer the call at a MAJOR ACCIDENT RESPONSE EXERCISE (MARE) prior to Air Power Day and the arrival of the Air Force Thunderbirds at Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea. The MARE drills are held quarterly and keep base personnel ready to respond to such emergencies as air crashes, ammunition accidents and fuel spills. This particular drill coincides with the upcoming Air Show where an expected 50,000 people may attend.
