Physician Assistant candidates Capt. Katalina Freeman and OC Dave Kelly, of Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, provided initial burn trauma management training to Soldiers at BACH September 14, during monthly medic training. Learning burn trauma management is imperative for service members in the medical field as it is a real world potential they may face both in garrison and in a deployed environment.

Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune received a visit on August 31, 2022 from Rear Admiral Cynthia Kuehner, commander for Naval Medical Forces Support Command. NMFSC leads and manages all medical training, education, professional development, and instruction for the production of highly trained and ready medical personnel within the U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery. Kuehner, who also serves as the Nurse Corps director, received a tour of several areas in the Medical Center where she was able to interact with nursing staff. RDML Kuehner also honored several employees with coins for their commendable work.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Aug. 18, 2022) - Lt. Cmdr. Robert Fowler, a clinical nurse specialist at Naval Hospital Jacksonvilles Emergency Department, teaches a Trauma Nurse Core Course. Fowler holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Purdue University. A native of Huntingburg, Indiana, Fowler says, "Clinical nurse specialists are advanced practice registered nurses that provide expertise and support to nurses caring for patients at the bedside, and facilitate evidence-based practice changes throughout the organization." Clinical Nurse Specialist Recognition Week is September 1 - 7. Clinical nurse specialists hold graduate nursing degrees and are experts in a particular specialty.

On April 29, 2022 a ceremonial cake-cutting was held on the Quarterdeck to honor the service of our civilian corps. The cake was cut by our most senior and junior civilian employees for length of service. Ms. Suzanne Crider is 40-year civilian employee from our Patient Administration Office, and Mr. Jesse McGaha from our Materials Management Department onboarded just a few days prior to the birthday.

Personnel participate in a blood drive July 15, 2022, by the American Red Cross at Fort McCoy, Wis. Dozens of Soldiers and other personnel donated blood in a successful effort by the Red Cross. Red Cross officials said there is an ongoing urgent need for blood donors and ask people to give if they can.

Elba Adams is one such candidate who was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), also known as "pre-leukemia." Her best form of treatment is a Blood Stem Cell Transplant.
