U.S. Marines from 6th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division stand in formation at a ceremony at Aisne-Marne American Cemetery marking the 104th anniversary of the Battle of Belleau Wood, May 29, 2022. The Battle of Belleau Wood is remembered for the intensity of the fighting and sustained, as well as for the participation of the 5th and 6th Marine Regiments. To this day, Marines assigned to these two regiments wear the French fourragere on the left shoulder of their uniforms as a reminder of their unit's distinguished service during the First World War.

Visit of Secretary Dirk Kempthorne to Yorktown, Virginia to deliver the keynote address at the 225th anniversary celebration of the Battle of Yorktown. Among other dignitaries on hand for the commemorative events were Virginia Senators John Warner and George Allen, former U.S. Army Secretary John Marsh, French Ambassador to the U.S. Jean-David Levitte, and French Defense Minister Michelle Alliot-Marie.

Yokota Air Base, Japan Air Self-Defense Force Airmen and Shizuoka City citizend, gathered at the B-29 Monument at the top of Mt. Shizuhata to participate in a U.S.-Japan Joint Memorial Service June 11, 2022, at Shizuoka city, Japan. The memorial service provided participants the opportunity to honor those who lost their lives during a World War II air raid on June 20, 1945. During the raid, two U.S. Army Air Forces B-29 Superfortresses collided mid-air over Shizuoka City, resulting in the death of 23 Airmen on board the aircraft. Representatives of the U.S. Air Forces Yokota Air Base, Japan Self Defense Force, and Shizuoka City rendered their respects to the Airmen and Japanese civilians who lost their lives as a result of the tragedy, and reflected on the strong alliance the U.S. and Japan have forged since the end of World War II.

In the triangular field of service of the Korean War Veterans Memorial, located on the National Mall near the west end of the Reflecting Pool, 19 stainless steel statues depict a squad on patrol heading for the American flag. The figures represent members of the Air Force, Army, Marines, and Navy from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. Among the Metropolitan Museums earliest acquisitions of arms and armor, purchased with the Duc de Dino Collection in 1904, the armor was exhibited in the Arms and Armor Galleries until 1988. It was once again on display, in the Great Hall, to herald the Museums celebration of the Department of Arms and Armors centennial (1912-2012), a century in which the collection became one of the largest and most encyclopedic of its kind.The armor is a special type worn in Germany and Austria for the "joust of peace" (Gestech), fought by two contestants on horseback armed with blunt lances.
