Tugboat "Ljusne". Dimensions: 75.0´X 17.0´X 9.0´ feet. Machine: Shipyard Icy steam engine (18´'x 27´ ') at 45 NHK/180 IHK, replaced by an unknown 2cy compond steam engine of 312 IHK. Built in 1871 at Motala Mek. For Ljusne sawmill owners W. Kempe, Stockholm and cost SEK 48,000. In 1881 to Ljusne-Woxna AB. Sold in 1937 for SEK 10,000 to J. G. Forsner and J. E. Byström, Sundsvall who sold her to Dahlström, Lervik and changed its name to "Lervik". Sold for SEK 10,000 in 1940 to Rederi & Transport AB and was renamed "Helper III". The Stockviksverken bought the boat for SEK 5,000 in 1964, also sold the same year to F. Andersson, Sundsvall who used her as a steam center in the harbor. S. G. Göransson, Sundsvall bought her in 1970 the following year, she sank at Fillan's ferry location. Sundsvall city bought her for SEK 600 in 1971 who raised and scrapped her. Bogserbåten "Ljusne". The kite balloon ship HMS Canning with her observation balloon anchored off Salonika with kite balloon aloft, November 1915.D&W Henderson of Glasgow built the ship in 1896 as a cargo ship for Lamport & Holt Line. She was a transport ship in the Second Boer War 1899-1900. The Admiralty bought her in 1915 and commissioned her as a kite balloon ship. In 1917 she became a depot ship at Scapa Flow and in 1919 she was returned to Lamport & Holt. In 1920 Mrs G Visalia bought her, renamed her Okeanos and registered her in Piraeus. In 1924 Ditta Luigi Pittaluga Vapori bought her, renamed her Arenzano and registered her in Genoa. She was scrapped in Genoa in 1924.

The Royal Navy during the Second World War MFV 60 under sail at sea off Devonport. It was one of fifteen little ships which were the only war vessels in the Royal Navy still to use sails. The sails were used purely for steadying purposes and were combined with a new type of petrol engine. The boats carried light armament, were 60 feet long and were used for harbour defence, patrol and ferrying services in naval ports.

Thames Lightship Torn From Moorings By Gale -- The Edinburgh Lightship. The Edinburgh Lightship broke from her moorings in the Thames Estuary during a strong north-westerly gale and high seas. So rough were the condition that the lightship drifted from her station, and is now lying on the south side of the Shingles Sands, off Margate. In response to the lightship men's call for assistance, the Margate motor lifeboat at once went to her aid, and is now standing by her. The lightship carries a crew of about eight. January 01, 1935.
