Corporal David B. Milano, MIA, was lost in action during the Korean War on December 2, 1950. After 71 years, he will be repatriated back to the United States and reunited with his family. The men and women of the Air Expeditionary Force (REF) 4-lead wing completed a historic first-ever deployment to Prince Sultan Air Base, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia this week. Lakenheath's 48th Fighter Wing served as the AEF4-lead wing contributing leadership and the bulk of all deployed forces over the past 90 days. The AEF enforced the United Nations No-Fly/No-Drive Zone over southern Iraq, an air occupation that has continued since the end of Operation DESERT STORM. Remaining AEF 4 members and deployed F-15E Strike Eagles and F-15C Eagles are expected home by the end of the week. The promise of the AEF is for airmen to return home and be free from deployments for 15 months while other Air Force units, based worldwide, deploy on their AEF taskings.
