YOKOSUKA, Japan (Oct. 16, 2022) - The city of Yokosuka holds the Yokosuka Kaikoku Fireworks Festival, in conjunction with the 44th annual Friendship Day celebration held onboard Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY). For the first time in three years, CFAY held an open base event to highlight the friendship between the local Japanese community and the U.S. Navy. For more than 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet's forward-deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.

Ready and trained response forces, particularly special operations forces, are important capabilities contributing to deterrence.

Overall the company loaded 128 items on to railcars over the multi-day rail movement at the installation to deploy the equipment eventually to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility. Five personnel with the Fort McCoy Logistics Readiness Center (LRC) assisted with the rail movement and its coordination. The 411th is the latest of many units over the last decade to hold rail movements at Fort McCoy. As a matter of fact, for the many decades of Fort McCoys existence, the capability to transport cargo and equipment to and from the installation by rail has always been there. And its a capability that will continue, Fort McCoy LRC officials said. During World War II, for example, the railroad at Fort McCoy was one of the main forms of transportation for bringing troops in for training and home after the war as well a

YOKOSUKA, Japan (Aug. 4, 2018) Sailors enjoy fireworks during the 42nd annual Yokosuka Friendship Day celebration onboard U.S. Fleet Activities (FLEACT) Yokosuka. The open base event highlights the friendship between the U.S. Navy and Japan. FLEACT Yokosuka provides, maintains, and operates base facilities and services in support of U.S. 7th Fleets forward-deployed naval forces, 71 tenant commands, and 27,000 military and civilian personnel.

Zumwalt is conducting underway operations in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
