U.S. service members deployed to Prince Sultan Air Base, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, grade a bodyweight burnout exercise during a three-day six-event U.S. Air Force versus U.S. Army spartan fitness competition, Oct. 1, 2022. During the Blue vs. Green competition, each side worked their cardio, core and muscle strength to win bragging rights and increase physical readiness. Naval Support Activity Washington (NSAW) continued its participation in Exercise Citadel-Shield Solid Curtain 2023 (CSSC23) on Feb. 7 with a series of training events at the Naval Observatory that tested the readiness of security forces to respond to threats. Sailors practiced counter surveillance, counter drone and unauthorized access responses in a series of drills supervised by the NSAW training team. Drills will be conducted daily at NSAW installations until the conclusion of CSSC23 on Feb. 17.

After a 20+ year hiatus, the challenge, a premier event for Department of the Air Force civil engineers, is back. This year's Readiness Challenge is the initial operating capability event before the challenge reaches full operating capability within the next two years. At this year's event, which runs through April 22, eight teams representing major commands and U.S. Space Force are facing off in about 20 events showing myriad of CE capabilities from emergency airfield lighting and water purification to building a guard shack from the ground up and firefighting and EOD operations.

Soldiers with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 717th Brigade Support Battalion, captured a photo of a Roswell citizen they helped transport to the Fresenius Medical Care center Dec. 30. One of the missions currently being performed by members of the New Mexico National Guard is the transportation of Roswell, N.M., citizens in need of dialysis treatments. Citizens were snowed in to their homes due to a winter blizzard that caused roads to be impassable. For at least two days, local members of the National Guard traversed the icy, snowpacked conditions to help citizens in need.

Marine Corps recruiting stations Kansas City and Des Moines brought more than 40 educators to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego from May 16 to May 20 so they might gain more understanding about the Marine and their recruitment process. The Marine Corps Recruiting Command allows both the Eastern and Western Recruiting Regions to host these workshops once a year for each recruiting station. The goal of the workshop is to allow educators throughout the country to get a peek behind the curtain of how Marines are made and who we are as America's 911 force in readiness. Throughout the workshop, educators are given the opportunity to participate in recruit training events such as the rappel tower, live fire rifle range, and sparring using Marine Corps Martial Arts Program techniques-- they are also expected to respond to drill instructors as recruits do and move from place to place in platoon formation. Upon completion of the workshop educators are returned home armed with a more intimate

Medics, pilots, and crew chiefs from Charlie Company, 6th Battalion, 101st General Support Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) teach EMS professionals from Oxford, MS about the 101st Combat Aviation Brigades aerial medical evacuation capabilities and procedures during a Large-Scale, Long-Range Air Assault (LLAASLT) into the Joint Readiness Training Center on Fort Johnson, LA. Marine Corps recruiting stations Kansas City and Des Moines brought more than 40 educators to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego from May 16 to May 20 so they might gain more understanding about the Marine and their recruitment process. The Marine Corps Recruiting Command allows both the Eastern and Western Recruiting Regions to host these workshops once a year for each recruiting station. The goal of the workshop is to allow educators throughout the country to get a peek behind the curtain of how Marines are made and who we are as America's 911 force in readiness. Throughout the workshop, educators are given the opportunity to participate in recruit training events such as the rappel tower, live fire rifle range, and sparring using Marine Corps Martial Arts Program techniques-- they are also expected to respond to drill instructors as recruits do and move from place to place in platoon formation. On May 4, 2022 members of the Arizona, Idaho and Oregon PGR collaborated to return the remains of Jerry Lorraine to his birthplace in Salem, Oregon. Lorraine, a Vietnam U.S. Air Force Veteran, residing in Arizona, passed away in December of 2021. His son Jason arranged to return him to his hometown with the help of the PGRs Pony Express. The Arizona PGR met Idaho members in Jackpot, Nevada on the morning of May 4 to transfer and escort Lorraines remains to the Oregon PGR waiting in Ontario, Oregon. Following a brief ceremony honoring Lorraine and making the transfer official the Idaho members escorted Lorraine on his journey home.
