Detachment 101, an enigmatic Allied intelligence and special operations unit during World War II, played a pivotal role in the Burmese theater. Operating deep in the jungles of Burma, their mission was multi-faceted, encompassing guerrilla warfare, espionage, and sabotage against Japanese forces. Comprising a diverse group of individuals, from OSS agents to indigenous fighters, they effectively disrupted Japanese supply lines, gathered critical intelligence, and supported resistance movements.

"Light's Out" In Berlin -- Putting up special curtains in a newspaper office window in Berlin in readiness for the "black-out".Berlin became a city of darkness on the night of March 19, by order of General Goering the Premier of Prussia. The cause was the first large-scale exercises to test the cutty's defences against air attack. Street lights were extinguished, and the people remained *****, with their windows shuttered to heavily curtained. Coast Guard Artist at Work Off French Coast. Coast Guardsman Russell S. Dickerson, Combat Artist, covered the invasion aboard one of the famous Coast Guard rescue cutters off the French coast. These sturdy 83-footers saved more than 1100 Allied invaders from perishing in the channel since the start of the French operation and Dickerson has recorded their heroic actions in oil and watercolor.
