Escaped German General Says New Soviet 'Police' Force Will Have Heavy Weapons -- General Walter Schreiber, former Wehrmacht medical chief and member of the committee 'Freies Deutschland', at the Press conference here following his escape into the American zone after his release by the Russians following 3½ years' captivity. At this conference, General Schreiber confirmed that the Soviets intend to arm their new German police task before with heavy weapons. He said he was offered the post Chief Medical Officer to the force. November 5, 1948.

Detachment 101, an enigmatic Allied intelligence and special operations unit during World War II, played a pivotal role in the Burmese theater. Operating deep in the jungles of Burma, their mission was multi-faceted, encompassing guerrilla warfare, espionage, and sabotage against Japanese forces. Comprising a diverse group of individuals, from OSS agents to indigenous fighters, they effectively disrupted Japanese supply lines, gathered critical intelligence, and supported resistance movements.

Royal Air Force- Italy,the Balkans and South-east Europe, 1942-1945. the outgoing Commanding Officer of No. 145 Squadron RAF, Squadron Leader N F Duke (left), stands with the unit's new CO, Squadron Leader S W F Daniel, at Fano, Italy. Duke departed the Squadron as the top-scoring fighter pilot in the Mediterranean theatre, having achieved his final victories on 7 September 1944 (two Messerschmitt Bf 109s near Rimini), to achieve a total of 26 and two shared enemy aircraft shot down. Daniel arrived at Fano with a total of 16 and one shared victories, and commanded 145 Squadron until the end of the War.

. 7 Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment Pte Buckman enlisted on 26 April 1916. He served with 28 Battalion, Middlesex Regiment as a physical drill and bayonet instructor before being posted to the Western Front on 16 December 1916. He was drafted to the Sussex Regiment where he served as a machine gunner and took part in the Battle of Arras. Aged 25, Pte Buckman was fatally wounded at Cambrai and died in hospital on 20 November 1917. Photograph presented by his wife, Mrs Buckman of Brighton.
