An inactivation ceremony was held for the 553rd Air Force Band, also known as the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast, at the 193rd Regional Support Group, Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa., Jan. 6, 2024. The 553rd Air Force Band traces its lineage back to the 53rd Army Air Forces Band formed in Rapid City, S.D., on Aug. 2, 1942.

Alberto Soto the Legion of Merit during the Combined Force Maritime Component Commander (CFMCC) flag course at USSOUTHCOM headquarters March 27-31, 2023. Vice Adm. Soto received the award for his service as the Chilean Navys Commander of Naval Operations. Sotos leadership increased his Navys participation in fleet exercises and operations, and greatly strengthened the partnership between Chile and the U.S. Navy. The Legion of Merit is the highest U.S. military decoration that may be awarded to foreign military personnel in recognition for achievement or meritorious service.
