GREAT LAKES (Sep. 29, 2022) Lieutenant Luke Morarend, Great Lakes Fire & Emergency Services, received a CNIC Fire & Emergency Services Life Saving Award certificate from Capt. Jason J. Williamson, Naval Station Great Lakes commanding officer (left), and Capt. Kertreck V. Brooks, Recruit Training Command commanding officer, related to life saving actions on June 7, 2022. Opened in 1911, NSGL is the Navys largest training installation and the home of the Navys only Boot Camp. Located on over 1600 acres overlooking Lake Michigan, the installation includes 1,153 buildings with 39 on the National Register of Historic Places. NSGL supports over 50 tenant commands and elements as well as over 20,000 Sailors, Marines, Soldiers, and DoD civilians who live and work on the installation.

The 2nd Brigade, 78th Training Division, 84th Training Command recognized Soldiers and their families with a special retirement ceremony, September 17, 2022 at Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island. The careers of 69 Soldiers who honorably served their country with duty, selfless service and devotion were celebrated. Kenneth Fisher was honored as the 2022 recipient of the West Point Association of Graduates Thayer Award Oct. 6 at Washington Hall during a banquet held in his honor. The Thayer Award is given to a U.S. citizen whose service and accomplishments in the national interest exemplify devotion to the ideals expressed in the academys motto: “Duty, Honor, Country.” Fisher, the CEO of Fisher House Foundation, is a tireless advocate for military service members, veterans and their families. His foundation has provided more than 10 million nights of lodging for military families, saving them an estimated $525 million in travel and lodging costs, allowing the families to be with service members recovering from illness or injury far from home. The 41st Signal Battalion celebrated its 80th birthday on Friday, January 27 on Camp Humphreys. It was a lovely evening of entertainment and camaraderie among teammates and members of the larger Signal community on the peninsula.

Randy Robinson, left, was honored by IMCOM Commanding General Lt. Gen. Omar Jones for 35 years of faithful service to the U.S. Army during IMCOMs Org Day on Oct. 6. Robinson helped stand up the Installation Management Agency, the predecessor to Installation Management Command, in 2002 and has served as the Executive Deputy to the Commanding General of IMCOM for the past four years.
