Arctic Resupply Mission. Snapped by a Coast Guard photographer from the icebreaker WESTWIND, this scene shows an Eskimo family encamped near the Hudson Bay Co. Trading Post at River Clyde, on Baffin Island, Canadian Northwest Territory. These Eskimos migrated to the River Clyde settlement to trade and hunt for the duration of the short Arctic summer. River Clyde was the point of a short lay-over period for the Coast Guard icebreaker WESTWIND while enroute with a Navy Task Force Group to resupply U.S.-Canadian weather stations in the Arctic.
