LT Mayer, along with other medical personnel from the USS DENVER, was in Marka, Somalia from 11 November 1993 to 14 November 1993 in support of Operation Show Care. Operation Show Care used American doctors and dentists to provide some of the people of Marka with basic health and dental care needs. This operation is in direct support of Operation Restore Hope.
