URUMA, Japan (Oct. 5, 2022) Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 4 Seabees, deployed to Camp Shields, Okinawa, clear foliage at the Heshikiya sugar mill park in Uruma, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 5, 2022. They volunteered to clear out foliage at the nationally registered monument's park. NMCB 4 is forward-deployed throughout the Indo-Pacific region and United States territories. The project was arranged by Commander, Fleet Activities Okinawa (CFAO) community relations. CFAO maintains and operates facilities to support the U.S. Navy's naval and aviation assets in the Indo-Pacific region.

(NNS) (Oct. 5, 2022) - The U.S. Navy conducted an annual coastal cleanup on the remote beaches of San Nicolas Island (SNI), the most isolated of the California Channel Islands, located sixty-five miles offshore, and South of Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) Point Mugu. The cleanup team consisted of nearly fifty volunteer Navy Sailors and civilians assigned to NBVC and Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, who removed over two-thousand pounds of trash and debris on three SNI beaches. NBVC is a strategically located Naval installation composed of three operating facilities: Point Mugu, Port Hueneme and San Nicolas Island. NBVC is the home of the Pacific Seabees, West Coast E-2C Hawkeyes, 3 warfare centers and 80 tenants.

There are still 286 missing Americans in Laos from the Vietnam War.

PEARL HARBOR (July 6, 2022) - Partner nations compete in an outrigger canoeing competition as part of Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2022. Twenty-six nations, 38 ships, four submarines, more than 170 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 29 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The worlds largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the worlds oceans. RIMPAC 2022 is the 28th exercise in the series that began in 1971.
