Allegory on the political and military power of Willem III, 1672. William III receives the sword with 'your Mayntiendraij' from an angel. In the foreground the personnifications of war and caution sitting. In the middle of the show a scene with the members of the States General sitting around a table. The print carries the inscription 'Corpus political' and could be a book illustration. Perhaps the print has been made in response to the appointment of Willem III to Captain General on Dutch arms forces in February 1672.

The Fight over the Trousers 1490-1503 Germany. Here an enraged woman wielding a distaff as a weapon gains the upper hand over her husband. They are fighting over the trousers on the ground in front of them ñ that is, for control of the household. This scene is part of Israhel van Meckenemís series of six prints of couples against a neutral background. It is the only one with a clear narrative and the only one in which the blank scrolls in the upper corners are replaced with imagery the distaff, used to spin thread and emblematic of feminine pursuits, and a demon who encourages the fight.
