The 26-year old officer was commissioned an ensign in the Coast Guard in May, 1942, and promoted to lieutenant (junior grade) in March of this year. He was graduated from the Boston Public Latin School in 1935 and from Harvard University in 1939. He and his wife, Mrs. Barbara (Gordon) Sullivan, had been making their home at 49 Coolidge St., Brookline. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James T. Sullivan, Sr., of 106 Lake St., Brighton. Mr. Sullivan, Sr., is automobile editor of The Boston Globe and former president of the Charitable Irish Society of Boston.
