Photograph of Cesar Romero. Back from sea--for a little while, anyway--is tall, handsome Cesar Romero of the movies. The Manhattan Latin, a boatswain's mate second class in the U. S. Coast Guard, participated in the invasions of Saipan and Tinian aboard a Coast Guard-manned assault transport during nine months of overseas duty. He's resting at home before reporting for a new assignment.

Curtis Emerson LeMay (November 15, 1906 October 1, 1990) was a general in the United States Air Force and the vice presidential running mate of American Independent Party presidential candidate George Wallace in 1968. He is credited with designing and implementing an effective, but also controversial, systematic strategic bombing campaign in the Pacific theater of World War II. During the war, he was known for planning and executing a massive bombing campaign against cities in Japan. After the war, he headed the Berlin airlift, then reorganized the Strategic Air Command (SAC) into an effective instrument of nuclear war.

Cesar Romero, screen star now in the U. S. Coast Guard, gets his first real look at the States after nine months in the South Pacific. There's plenty of reason for that flashing smile as Cesar Romero, screen star now in the U. S. Coast Guard, gets his first real look at the States after nine months in the South Pacific aboard a Coast Guard-manned assault transport that landed Yank fighting men at Saipan and Tinian. This ship-to-shore cruise aboard the liberty boat was much more comfortable than his last ship-to-shore trip aboard a landing boat at Saipan and Tinian.
