Dr. Michel dies. Dr. Carl Michel, USPHS, Chief Medical Officer of the United States Coast Guard and Assistant Surgeon General, U. S. Public Health Service, died at noon Thursday, 3 January, of cerebral hemorrhage at the Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md. Dr. Michel had served since July 1940 as Chief Medical Officer of the Coast Guard. Born in Chicago in 1980, Dr. Michel was graduated from the University of Illinois in 1912 and had been in the U. S. Public Health Service since 1914. He was a pioneer in quarantine methods particularly with relation to airplanes carrying disease-bearing mosquitoes. handwritten note Released 1/3/46.

Royal Air Force Fighter Command, 1939-1945. Wing Commander M L Robinson, Tangmere Wing Leader, at Westhampnett, Sussex. During the Battle of Britain he flew with Nos. 601 and 238 Squadrons RAF, and commanded No. 609 Squadron RAF until July 1941. He arrived at Tangmere having shot down 16 enemy aircraft, and led the Wing until the end of March 1942, when he replaced Wing Commander A G Malan as wing leader at Biggin Hill. He added a further 3.5 victories to his score before he was killed in action on 10 April.

. 17 Indian Cavalry (attached Indian Political Department) Captain Shakespear was born in India in 1878 and educated at Portsmouth Grammar School, King William's College, Isle of Man and Sandhurst. In 1898, he received a commission with 1 Battalion, Devonshire Regiment before transferring to the Indian Army in 1899 and receiving a commision with 17 Cavalry. Captain Shakespear entered the Foreign Department of the Indian Government in 1903. Having studied Arabic and other languages, he was appointed Assistant Political Agent in Kuwait in 1909. Over the years leading up to the outbreak of war in 1914, Captain Shakespear undertook a series of expeditions through Arabia (then under Turkish control) and became friends with Emir Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud. As a keen supporter of the Arab cause, Shakespear prepared the ground for T E Lawrence. In late 1914, he was tasked by the British Government to persuade Ibn Saud to become an ally of Britain. Prince Philip Of Greece -- A new picture of Prince Philip of Greece, in the uniform of a lieutenant in the Royal Navy. 24 years old, he is the son of the late Prince Andrew of Greece and Princess Alice (nee Mountbatten). Prince Philip is a cousin of the King and the Duchess of Kent and a second cousin of Princess Elizabeth. He is also a cousin of King George of the Hellenes and sixth in line of succession to the Greek throne. He studied at the R.N.College, Dartmouth, winning the King's Dirk as the best all-round cadet of the year. During the war he was in HMS "Valiant" at the Battle of Matapan. November 02, 1946.
