PACIFIC OCEAN (June 13, 2017) A Mark 38 Mod 2 25 mm machine gun is fired during a live-fire exercise aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Howard (DDG 83). The ship is underway with the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group on a scheduled deployment to the western Pacific and Indian Oceans.

YELLOW SEA (March 15, 2013) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS McCampbell (DDG 85) fires its 5-Inch/54-caliber (Mk 45) lightweight gun at a target drone during exercise Foal Eagle 2013. McCampbell is part of Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, and is underway to conduct exercise Foal Eagle 2013 with the Republic of Korea in support of regional security and stability of the Asia-Pacific region.

The George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group (CSG) is underway completing a certification exercise to increase U.S. and allied interoperability and warfighting capability before a future deployment. The George H.W. Bush CSG is an integrated combat weapons system that delivers superior combat capability to deter, and if necessary, defeat Americas adversaries in support of national security.

PACIFIC OCEAN (July 16, 2022) JJapan Maritime Self-Defense Force Takanami-class destroyer JS Takanami (DD 110) fires a 127mm gun while conducting a live-fire exercise during Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2022. Twenty-six nations, 38 ships, three submarines, more than 170 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 29 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans. MEDITERRANEAN SEA (Oct. 18, 2018) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Carney (DDG 64) transits the Mediterranean Sea, Oct. 18, 2018. Carney, forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is on its fifth patrol in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of regional allies and partners as well as U.S. national security interests in Europe and Africa.

Soldiers from B Company, 3-2 General Support Aviation Battalion, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade conducted deck landings with CH-47F Chinook helicopters on the the U.S. Navy's only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), in the waters east of the Korean peninsula on September 26, 2022. Deck landing qualifications are conducted to certify air crew members and pilots on landing on a ship. This training was conducted in part with the Maritime Counter Special Operations Exercise (MCSOFEX) to strengthen interoperability with our joint partners.

ATLANTIC OCEAN (April 9, 2022) - The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG 78) conducts a live-fire exercise from a Close-In Weapons Systems (CIWS), April 9, 2022. Porter, forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is currently in the U.S. 2nd Fleet area of operations to conduct routine certifications and training.

PHILIPPINE SEA (Aug. 2, 2022) - Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Antietam (CG 54) approaches the Henry J. Kaiser-class underway replenishment oiler USNS Tippecanoe (T-AO 199) while operating in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 2, 2022. Military Sealift Command Far East ensures approximately 50 ships in the Indo-Pacific region, including Tippecanoe, are manned, trained, and equipped to deliver essential supplies, fuel, cargo, and equipment to warfighters, both at sea and on shore. Jason Dunham is deployed with the John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts and support missions for Operation Enduring Freedom.

MEDITERRANEAN SEA (Dec. 2, 2022) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Roosevelt (DDG 80) transits toward the fast combat support ship USNS Arctic (T-AOE 8) to conduct a replenishment-at-sea, Dec. 2, 2022. Roosevelt, currently attached to the Charles de Gaulle Carrier Strike Group, is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations, employed by U.S. Sixth Fleet to defend U.S., allied and partner interests.

SOUTH CHINA SEA (Oct. 1, 2022) Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Higgins (DDG 76), center, cruises in formation with Izumo-class multi-purpose destroyer JS Izumo (DDH 183) left, and a Japanese submarine while conducting routine operations in the South China Sea, Oct. 1. Higgins is participating in multi-lateral exercises in the South China Sea in support of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Forces Indo-Pacific deployment, along with the Royal Canadian Navy. Routine multi-lateral exercises like this strengthen interoperability and our mutual commitment to maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific.

ATLANTIC OCEAN (March 30, 2023) Arleigh Burke-Class guided missile destroyer USS McFaul (DDG 74), fires its MK 45 -5-inch 54 Caliber Gun during an integrated live-fire event, March 30, 2023. McFaul, as part of the Ford Carrier Strike Group, is underway in the Atlantic Ocean completing its Composite Training Units Exercise (COMPTUEX), an intense, multi-week exercise designed to fully integrate a carrier strike group as a cohesive, multi-mission fighting force and to test their ability to carry out sustained combat operations from the sea.
