The ROKs have a Fighting Navy -- At this ROK minesweeper skirts the southern coast of Korea, her crew gathers around midships to bat the breeze. In the left foreground is a minesweeper float, the principal piece of gear of the minesweeping force.The Republic of Korea has a Navy of approximately 50 ships and ten thousand officers and men. Whatever the ROKs lack in numbers they more than make up for in fighting spirit. To the ROKs falls the lion's share of the close inshore patrol and blockade of the long Korean coastline, a job that calls for their shallow draft craft and their aggressive sailors. Ms. Limburg (D814) was part of the NATO Squadron Matchmaker III from January 15 to March 3, 1967 (Matchmaker was the precursor of the Standing Naval Force Atlantic (StanavForlant) that has existed from 1968). During that period, Matchmaker III also consisted of USS Zellars (DD777), HMS Berwick (F115) and USS McCloy (DE1038). During the fleet days in Den Helder there is a lot of interest in the aircraft camp Hr.Ms. Karel Doorman (C 81) Given the long row of waiting on a quay of the naval harbor. On the other side of the quay lies a submarine booth from the Friesland class.

In January 1955, the Defense Committee from the Lower House visited the fleet in Rotterdam in the company of the Minister of War and Marine Ir. C. Staff (1905-1973, right).
