WATERLOO, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2022) - Sailors assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS The Sullivans (DDG 68) visited the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum in Waterloo, Iowa, Aug. 8. Sailors assigned to The Sullivans are visiting Waterloo for a Namesake visit to the five Sullivan brothers hometown and got to share experiences about their time in the Navy with local Waterloo citizens.

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Sep. 10, 2022) - The Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) color guard parades the colors during the Pacific Partnership 2022 Solomon Islands closing ceremony aboard Mercy. Now in its 17th year, Pacific Partnership is the largest annual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific. Pacific Partnership is a unifying mission that fosters enduring friendships and cooperation among many nations. The years mission in Solomon Islands included participants from the United States, Japan and Australia.

Montana is the 21st Virginia Class submarine co-produced by General Dynamics Electric Boat (GDEB) and Huntington Ingalls Industries-Newport News Shipbuilding (HII-NNS). Montana is the second U.S. Navy ship to honor the state. The first USS Montana (ACR-13), an armored cruiser, was also built at Newport News Shipbuilding and commissioned July 1908. She served in the Atlantic and Mediterranean, landed Marines during unrest in Haiti in 1914 and escorted convoys during World War I. She was decommissioned in 1921. Two other battleships (BB-51 and BB-67) were to have been named Montana however, were cancelled in 1922 and 1943 respectively.

Bunker Hill, part of the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group, is in U.S. 7th fleet conducting routine operations. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navys largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with Allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

The Coast Guard First District holds a change-of-command ceremony Friday, May 13, 2022 at Faneuil Hall in Boston to bid farewell to Rear Adm. Thomas G. Allan Jr. and welcome Rear Adm. John W. Mauger as commander of the First District. Vice Adm. Steven D. Poulin, commander, Coast Guard Atlantic Area presided over the ceremony. The change of command ceremony is a time-honored tradition that represents the transfer of one commanding officer to another as well as the transfer of absolute authority and responsibility for a military unit.

PEARL HARBOR (July 5, 2022) - New Zealands Māori Cultural Group performs during a reception aboard Royal New Zealand Navy auxiliary oiler replenishment ship HMNZS Aotearoa (A 11). The reception was hosted by New Zealand Consulate General, Hawaii, Mr. Mike Ketchen and Commanding Officer of Aotearoa, Cmdr. Dave Barr, for New Zealands Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2022 partner nations. Twenty-six nations, 38 ships, four submarines, more than 170 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 29 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans.
