(Oct. 13, 2022) - The Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) returned to Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story after a deployment with the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), Oct. 13. More than 4,000 Sailors and Marines assigned to the Kearsarge ARG supported a wide range of interoperability opportunities and exercises across the U.S. Sixth Fleet area of operations increasing combat readiness and crisis response capabilities while strengthening relationships with both NATO Allies and partners.

YOKOSUKA, Japan (June 9, 2022) The U.S. Coast Guard Legend-class cutter USCGC Munro (WMSL 755) sits pier side at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY). Munro visited CFAY during a scheduled port call while deployed in support of Operation North Pacific Guard, an annual high seas international law enforcement operation designed to detect and deter illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. For more than 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleets forward-deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.

ATLANTIC OCEAN (June 30, 2022) Two U.S. Air Force F-15C Eagles and a U.S. Navy E-2 overfly the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Farragut (DDG 99) as part of Operation Noble Defender (OND) off the coast of Cape Canaveral, Florida, June 30, 2022. During OND, the Continental U.S. NORAD Region (CONR) coordinated and conducted joint operations with the U.S. Navy while concurrently launching jets from different locations across the United States' gulf coast and Puerto Rico. OND, is an integrated air and missile defense operation designed to ensure the defense and security of the northern and southern approaches to North America. This particular OND allowed NORAD units to exercise maneuvers designed to defend the southern approach to the United States from simulated cruise missile threats.

Recovery team members work to lift a test version of Orion's forward bay cover out of the Pacific Ocean using a crane on board the USS Anchorage on Sept. 16, 2014. NASA and the Navy are working together this week to test tools and techniques that will be used to retrieve the spacecraft once it splashes down following Exploration Flight Test-1 (EFT-1). The forward bay cover protects the top section of Orion's crew module until the spacecraft is almost ready to land. Porter returned to Naval Station Norfolk after completing seven years of service and 11 patrols at Naval Station Rota, Spain as a Forward Deployed Naval Forces-Europe (FDNF-E) destroyer.

SAN DIEGO (Dec. 10, 2013) The amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) departs Naval Base San Diego for sea trials and engineering drills following a 13-month maintenance availability. Makin Island was the first amphibious assault ship built with a hybrid-electric propulsion system that provides significant savings in fuel costs for the U.S. Navy.

The worlds largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the worlds oceans. RIMPAC 2022 is the 28th exercise in the series that began in 1971.
