YOKOSUKA, Japan (Sept. 26, 2022) The Valiant-class harbor tugs Puyallup (YT-806) and Menominee (YT-807), assigned to Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY), escort the guided-missile destroyer USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) to a berth at CFAY for a scheduled port visit. For more than 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet's forward deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.

The LSV-3 (Logistics Support Vessel) leaves Pier 6 at the Port of Pusan headed for Pyongtaek, Republic of Korea, Oct. 22, 1998. The LSV-3 leaves on its first mission through Korean waters transporting various types of military vehicles. The vehicles come from the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division out of Fort Lewis, Washington. Tom Dandes, Special Events Coordinator at the Hampton Roads Naval Museum (HRNM) leads a tour of the Battleship Wisconsin for a contingent of sailors from Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic. During the tour, the sailors received some historical information about the Battleship along with some meaningful interpretation. HRNM is one of ten U.S. Navy museums within the Naval History and Heritage Command. The museum is located next to the Battleship Wisconsin in Downtown Norfolk, Virginia.

The USS Tripoli (LHA-7), an American-class amphibious assault ship, returns to port at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, California, April 7, 2022. The Tripoli supported the launch of 20 F-35B Lightning II jets from Marine Fighter Attack Squadrons 211 and 225, Marine Aircraft Group 13, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, as well as Marine Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron as part of the U.S. Marine Corps lightning carrier concept demonstration. The lightning carrier concept demonstration shows that Tripoli and other amphibious assault ships are capable of operating as dedicated fixed-wing platforms when needed, capable of bringing fifth generation short takeoff/vertical landing aircraft wherever they are required.

Steaming 250 nautical miles, MV Gary Chouests three-day tow began on Dec. 6 from Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia and ended on Dec. 9 in Philadelphia, Pa., at the Naval Inactive Ship Maintenance Facility (NISMF), where the vessel will be designated as Out of Commission in Reserve (OCIR).A Dead Ship Tow occurs when a motor vessel like Gary Chouest is able to tow a ship like the ex-USS Anzio, when the ship being towed is greater than 100 gross tons and is no longer able to operate under its own command, nor its own propelling machinery. The Navy Sea Systems Commands (NAVSEA) NISMF office conducted inspections throughout the process to ensure all preparations were in line with guidelines set-up by the Environmental Protection Agency under

The commercial cargo vessel Liberty Promise arrive at the port of Koper Oct. 9 in Koper, Slovenia carrying approximately 800 equipment items belonging to the 101st Division Sustainment Brigade "Lifeliners," 101st Airborne Division "Air Assault." Elements of the 101st Airborne Division, from Fort Campbell, Kentucky, are deploying to support the United States unrelenting commitment to our European and NATO allies. This temporary deployment is in response to the invasion of Ukraine and is not a permanent change to the overall Army force posture in Europe.
