America's Newest Submarines Conduct Diving Operations -- A wide world photos staff cameraman was granted authorization by United States Navy authorities to make these first and exclusive pictures or America's newest submarines, or division 15, squadron 6, based at San Diego, conducting formation and diving operations - during recent training exercises off the California Coast. These 1,600-ton undersea war craft are 310 feet long and carry six officers and 54 men each. They are equipped with one 3winch gun, mounted aft.
