The Royal Navy during the Second World War Salerno, 9 September 1943 (Operation Avalanche): In the distance British warships put a terrific supporting bombardment against well established German shore batteries and entrenchments as fighting goes on on the beaches of Salerno Bay. This bombardment continued throughout the bitter fighting since the landings.

Latest launch of the Torpedo MK 8 in 1978. These air-driven torpedoes were blown out at the exercise execution, at the end of the run and came up with the surface. Blowing out gave a nice recognition sign to find the torpedo and then pick up and hoist on board the torpedo ship.
