PEARL HARBOR (May 26, 2015) Royal Canadian Navy Rear Adm. William Truelove, commander of Maritime Forces Pacific, delivers remarks to Sailors aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Truelove presented Rear Adm. Rick Williams, commander of Navy Region Hawaii and Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific, and Cmdr. Todd E. Hutchison, commanding officer of Michael Murphy, with the Canadian Forces Unit Commendation. The commendation was given in appreciation for the recovery efforts of HMCS Protecteur after suffering an engine fire several hundred miles off the coast of Hawaii during its transit back to Esquimalt, British Columbia, in February 2014.

NORFOLK (Oct. 29, 2017) - Sailors stand by for line-handling operations during a sea and anchor detail for the dock landing ship USS Oak Hill (LSD 51) that returned to its homeport, Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, after supporting hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Oct 29. The ship departed Norfolk, Aug. 31 to support relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and were redirected to be in a position to support efforts in the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

INDIAN OCEAN (July 21, 2020) Sailors on board the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Sterett (DDG 104) wave to the Indian Navy frigate INS Shivalik (F 47) in the Indian Ocean during a cooperative exercise with the Indian Navy. The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group, consisting of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68), the Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Princeton (CG 59) and the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers USS Sterett (DDG 104) and USS Ralph Johnson (DDG 114), along with Indian Navy ships Rana, Sahyadri, Shivalik and Kamorta, are currently participating in a cooperative deployment in the Indian Ocean.

BOSTON (Sept. 21, 2022) U.S. Navy petty officers first class, selected for promotion to chief petty officer, participate in a linehandling evolution during Chief Petty Officer Heritage Weeks. During the week, Constitution Sailors teach the selectees a variety of time-honored maritime evolutions while living and working aboard the ship.USS Constitution, is the worlds oldest commissioned warship afloat, and played a crucial role in the Barbary Wars and the War of 1812, actively defending sea lanes from 1797 to 1855. During normal operations, the active-duty Sailors stationed aboard USS Constitution provide free tours and offer public visitation to more than 600,000 people a year as they support the ships mission of promoting the Navys history and maritime heritage and raising awareness of the importance of a sustained naval presence. The Orion test capsule undergoes stationary recovery testing in Norfolk, VA on Aug. 13, 2013. NASA and the U.S Navy led the tests using the USS Arlington...The stationary recovery tests allow the teams to demonstrate and evaluate the recovery processes, the hardware and the test personnel in a controlled environment. ..During the test, the U.S Navy Dive Team checked the capsule for hazards while sailors from the USS Arlington approached the capsule in inflatable boats, and towed it back to the ships flooded well deck. The unique COMREL evolution, which consisted of moving large amounts of holiday decorations, was part of the Hampton Roads Naval Museums 21st Annual Chief Petty Officer Heritage Days event. The three-day event allows CPO selectees to receive history and heritage training at the museum and aboard the Battleship Wisconsin. The MOB-D assessments are a series of drills designed to assess a ships proficiency in responding to emergencies and keeping the ship afloat in emergency situations.
