Chief Petty Officer selectees from various commands in the Hampton Roads, Virginia region listen as LCDR David Wood, USN (Ret.) shares some of his experiences aboard the decommissioned Iowa Class Battleship USS Wisconsin (BB-64). David served 30 years in the U.S. Navy, and rose to the enlisted rank of Senior Chief (E-8). He received his commission, and eventually retired the rank of Lieutenant Commander. The presentation was part of the Hampton Roads Naval Museums 21st Annual Chief Petty Officer Heritage Days event. The three-day event allows CPO selectees to receive history and heritage training at the museum and aboard the Battleship Wisconsin. The event is held at the museum and aboard the Battleship Wisconsin, and is hosted in conjunction with area commands. The event is the longest running and largest of its kind in Virginia.
