GREAT LAKES, Il. (January 18, 2024) Sailors stationed aboard Naval Station Great Lakes and its tenant commands are presented lone Sailor statues from the Navy League at a Sailor of the year ceremony at the National Museum of the American Sailor, Jan. 18, 2024. Since its founding in 1902, the Navy League has provided a voice for stronger sea services. The Navy League has grown to become the foremost citizens organization serving, supporting and standing with all U.S. sea services.

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON - (Jan. 8, 2024) - Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Dana Connor, of Barnett, Mo., assigned to Navy Medicine Training Support Center (NMTSC), was recognized by Rear. Adm. Walter Brafford, commander, Naval Medical Forces Support Command (NMFSC), as the Command Career Counselor of the Year at NMFSC headquarters. As the Hospital Corpsman A School career counselor, Connor was instrumental in the expeditious detailing process of 5,500 new accessions Sailors annually to operational C Schools, and reserve billets across the Fleet. For her meritorious service, Connor was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal. NMFSC develops and delivers integrated education and training that produces operational medical experts to project Medical Power in support of Naval Superiority.

Recruits take the Naturalization Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America during a naturalization ceremony inside the Recruit Memorial Chapel at Recruit Training Command (RTC). Boot camp is approximately 10 weeks and all enlistees into the U.S. Navy begin their careers at the command. Training includes five warfighting competencies of firefighting, damage control, seamanship, watchstanding, and small arms handling and marksmanship along with physical fitness and lessons in Navy heritage and core values, Warrior Toughness, Life Skills, teamwork and discipline. More than 40,000 recruits train annually at the Navys only boot camp.

NORFOLK, Va. (June 21, 2022) USNS Burlington (T - EPF 10) won Military Sealift Commands Food Service Excellence Award for the first time in the ships three and a half year history. Burlington is recognized for its top-notch food service professionals who can now claim bragging rights as the best of the best in MSCs Small Afloat category.MSC Atlantic Commodore Capt. Daniel E. Broadhurst (center) was on hand to present the award to Burlingtons culinary team. Chief Steward Patrick Jean and Cook Baker Wilson Dorceus are left and right of the commodore, respectively. The remaining civil service mariners, also known as CIVMARs, are on hand to show their support to the culinary team.

The 8th Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, John Hagan, donates personal Navy memorabilia to the USS Hopper recruit barracks at Recruit Training Command. The quarter deck of the Hopper was dedicated as MCPON Hagan Quarter Deck upon its comissioning. Hagan served as MCPON for nearly six years, serving under three Chiefs of Naval Operations, Admiral Frank Kelso, Admiral Mike Boorda and Admiral Jay L. Johnson. More than 40,000 recruits train annually at the Navy's only boot camp.
