The Cistercian monastery of St Marienstern (sorb. Marijina Hwězda) is located on the Klosterwasser in Panschwitz-Kuckau in Upper Lusatia in Saxony. Sankt Marienstern is one of the few religious houses that have served the same purpose since their foundation. Even today, 19 Cistercian nuns live and work in the monastery with Abbess Benedicta Waurick and, in addition to the solemn Liturgy of the Hours, pastoral care and work in the house and garden, they also dedicate themselves to the care, education and employment of disabled people who are accommodated in several residential areas.
