Hrbek, 25, a Westwood, N.J., native, was escorted from Dover Air Force Base, Del., past streets lined with people waving American Flags to Beckers Funeral Home. Hrbek, a field artillery cannoneer with 3rd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 7, II Marine Expeditionary Force, died Jan. 14 while conducting combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. He is scheduled to be awarded a Bronze Star Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device Jan. 23 at his funeral. The medal was approved for saving the life of his battalion sergeant major after an improvised explosive device severed both his legs during a firefight, Dec. 23, 2009.

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM (December 8, 2022) Rear Adm. Stephen Barnett, Commander, Navy Region Hawaii, dedicates a wreath during an observance cermony on Ford Island. The 7th annual Lives Remembered: A Tribute to the Fallen of Pearl Harbor is a Joint Japan - U.S. ceremony co-hosted by Commander Navy Region Hawaii and the Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu will be held at the Banyan Tree on Ford Island, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The first ceremony was held in 2016, the 75th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack, and coincided with the Japan and United States heads of state visiting the Arizona Memorial together. The ceremony honors all who lost their lives in the Pearl Harbor attack and is a symbol of reconcilitation and friendship between Japan and the United States.

On May 4, 2022 members of the Arizona, Idaho and Oregon PGR collaborated to return the remains of Jerry Lorraine to his birthplace in Salem, Oregon. Lorraine, a Vietnam U.S. Air Force Veteran, residing in Arizona, passed away in December of 2021. His son Jason arranged to return him to his hometown with the help of the PGRs Pony Express. The Arizona PGR met Idaho members in Jackpot, Nevada on the morning of May 4 to transfer and escort Lorraines remains to the Oregon PGR waiting in Ontario, Oregon. Following a brief ceremony honoring Lorraine and making the transfer official the Idaho members escorted Lorraine on his journey home. For the members of the Idaho Patriot Guard Riders Memorial Day is a weekly remembrance. The Patriot Guard Riders are a national organization with state chapters spread out in regional areas.
