Mony, 85, suffering from Alzheimer's disease, evolves in this multi-sensory environment that is both soothing and stimulating, accompanied by Marc Thiry, physiotherapist specialized in psychomotricity. Professor Thiry has been following Mony since his disease was diagnosed 5 years ago. By stimulating the senses, these spaces reduce the anxiety of people with Alzheimer's who, despite their illness, retain a sensory memory. These spaces are both beneficial for the patient and for the nursing staff because they allow them to establish a special relationship and to set up means of communication other than speech. This room is equipped with an oil disc lamp which has relaxing or even hypnotic effects and a water bed heated to 37C which plays music.
