Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va. Discovery is scheduled to be transported atop a NASA Shuttle Carrier Aircraft modified 747 jet to Dulles International Airport in Virginia on April 17 and then moved to the Smithsonian for permanent public display on April 19.

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. -- At Launch Pad 39A, a team of external tank specialists from Lockheed Martin and the United Space Alliance undertakes the task of removing the hydrogen feed-through connector in support of space shuttle Atlantis' STS-122 mission. Here, a technician carries the shipping container in which the wrapped connector is secured for transport to NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., for further cryogenic testing. Some of the tank's engine cutoff sensors, or ECO sensors, failed during propellant tanking for launch attempts on Dec. 6 and Dec. 9. Results of a tanking test on Dec. 18 pointed to an open circuit in the feed-through connector wiring, which is located at the base of the tank. The feed-through connector passes the wires from the inside of the tank to the outside. After the data from additional testing on the connector is analyzed, shuttle program managers will decide on a forward plan. Launch of STS-122 is targeted for January 2008.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - In the Space Station Processing Facility at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, workers begin processing of the newly arrived replacement high-pressure ammonia jumper hoses to support space shuttle Endeavour's STS-130 mission. A problem arose during a prelaunch test Jan. 7 with one of four hoses that are needed to connect the ammonia loops of the International Space Station's Tranquility node to those of the Destiny laboratory. A decision was made to use an alternate hose design for use as the primary jumper. The new hoses are assembled from shorter hoses that were previously certified and tested. Connection of the modules requires two ammonia loops, with two lines apiece, each of which must be connected to both Tranquility and Destiny to route cooling to and from the Tranquility module. The primary payload for the STS-130 mission, Tranquility is a pressurized module that will provide additional room for crew members and many of the station's life support and

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- On Launch Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, technicians prepare to work inside the intertank of space shuttle Discovery's external fuel tank, which is accessible through this door. The intertank is unpressurized and holds most of the tank's electrical components. It sits between the liquid hydrogen tank and liquid oxygen tank. Technicians will be working inside the intertank to further analyze two cracks that were found on the tanks metal exterior. The foam cracked during initial loading operations for space shuttle Discoverys launch attempt on Nov. 5. The cracks are on one of the stringers, which are the composite aluminum ribs located vertically on the intertank area. Discovery's next launch attempt is no earlier than Nov. 30 at 4:02 a.m. EST.
