Alfred Cecil Critchley (1890-1963), greyhound racing pioneer and aviation administrator. Critchley was responsible for introducing greyhound racing to Britain in 1926 with the building of a track at Belle Vue, Manchester. He founded and was Managing Director of the Greyhound Racing Association and was instrumental in establishing the sport in the country. Date: 1938

Lord Privy Seal To Head Mission To Persia -- The British Foreign Secretary, Mr. Herbert Morrison, recently announced in the House of Commons during a debate on the Middle East that the Lord Privy Seal, the Rt, Hon. Richard Stokes would lead a British Government mission to Teheran for talks with the Persian Government on a settlement of the dispute between the Persian Government and the Angle-Iranian Oil Company.The Rt. Hon. Richard Rapier Stokes has been Labour Member of Parliament for Ipswich since 1938. Born in 1897 he was educated at Trinity College Cambridge. He served in France with the Royal Artillery during the 1914-18 war. He was appointed Minister of Works in 1950 and Lord Privy Seal earlier this year.
