Royal Air Force Coastal Command, 1939-1945. Airmen from No. 24 Air Sea Rescue Unit assist civilian workers to renovate bomb-damaged council houses at Gorleston-on-Sea, Norfolk. Anefo photo collection. Report from the camp in Vught. In the penal camps in Vught, 7,000 Dutch collaborators and land crashes are locked up. Soldiers of the Dutch shock troops are charged with the surveillance, especially from the 300 Dutch SS men. Led by the camp commander, the Major L. Mennes, and his helpers, these prisoners are used to purify O.A. The surroundings of Vught van Landmijnen. They are dressed in the blue-white striped prisoners of the former Dutch people captured by the Germans. The prisoners receive the minimum civilian ration, which is also reduced because all delicacies have been taken off. Pending their final trial, they take the days under a strict regime here.
